With pretty rose-pink blooms, Joe Pye Weed gets its name from a Native American who supposedly used the plant to treat New Englanders with typhus fever.

Joe Pye Weed has no known edible uses, but it is used in folk medicine for kidney complaints and painful urination, since the herb is known as a diuretic.
