Also known as: winter purslane, spring beauty, indian lettuce.

And prospectors during the California Gold Rush also ate the wild plant to prevent scurvy, hence the name miner's lettuce.
Although the taste is quite bland, miner's lettuce can survive near-freezing temperatures, making it a suitable salad ingredient in winter time.
